Why is your office called Hands, Hooves and Hearts Therapeutic Services?
The owner, Jenny, is an avid horseman and spends most of her summer weekends competing at horse events. When she opened her practice, it felt natural that horses should be part of the name.
How do I get my child started in your care?
If you have concerns regarding your child’s development, or if you have a physician referral, call our office at 612-230-0308 or fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. We will ask some questions about your concerns and determine if an assessment is right for your child. If it is, we will send you intake forms to fill out.
The answers to our questions and the forms will give us a good idea of your child’s needs, strengths, weaknesses, and any important medical information. With this information in hand, we can schedule your child for an assessment.
What will happen at the assessment?
It is our goal to walk you and your child through this process. You will be invited and welcomed to stay during the assessment. Depending upon what areas of development we are assessing, you may have some additional caregiver questionnaire forms to fill out.
During the evaluation, the assessment is set up in a playful manner. We will complete the standardized assessment as well as gather observational data. Assessment sessions are usually an hour to an hour and a half in length.
Following the assessment, the therapist will compile all of the information gathered into an official assessment report. Next, if your child qualifies for services, individualized treatment goals will be developed along with a plan of care. If your child does not qualify for services, you will be provided with written recommendations to address specific areas of concern. All of this information will be sent to your child’s doctor for approval and a signature. Finally, upon approval we will work together to schedule treatment sessions.
How do I cancel or change an appointment?
Please call our office at 612-230-0308.
Will you remind me of an upcoming appointment?
You will receive a reminder text or email (as you specify) reminding you of your child’s appointment the day before their appointment.
What is your cancellation policy?
We will require at least a twenty-four-hour cancellation notice for vacations, scheduling conflicts, conflicting appointments, etc.
- The first time there is a no show you will be given a reminder of the policy and a written email or text will be sent.
- The second instance in which twenty-four-hour notice is not given, we will place your child on a waitlist and/or services may be discontinued until your situation allows for more consistent attendance.
If you are able to reschedule your appointment in the same calendar week, this will not be considered a no show.
You may cancel your child’s session by calling, texting, or emailing your therapist or contacting Jenny at 612-230-0308.
PLEASE NOTE: We encourage cancellations if your child has diarrhea, vomiting, contagious diseases, and/or a temperature above one hundred degrees. In these situations, please cancel your scheduled appointment as soon as you are able and reschedule as soon as possible to maintain continuity of care.
